Celebrations & Closings & everything in-between!

What a whirlwind of a week it has been! I sat down yesterday & realized it has been nearly a full week since I have updated the blog. And I hope I can get a post in now as I hear Drew beginning to wake up...oh & here comes Darcy from her nap as well...it never fails that when I sit down, everyone else wakes up! lol!
Well, here goes, maybe I can at least make a dent...(Okay, that was written Sunday afternoon, but here it is Monday & I'm just now getting to finish the post! C'est la vie!)
This week we were back to school after the girls nice Spring Break the week before. Since Darcy's birthday was over the break, we celebrated her birthday with her class on Tuesday. Her class generally has a snack right before pick-up time & so that is also when they celebrate birthdays. Darcy is one of the last birthdays in her class, so she has been really looking forward to the day when we would bring in special treats for her birthday! If you know Darcy, you know that she is a treats girl! So we decided on doughnuts with sprinkles for her birthday treat to share with the class...and they were a big hit!

Enjoying her birthday treat!
I thought this doughnut was cute, only the icing & sprinkles were eaten off of the top!
The rest of the week sped by & we were able to close on the sale of our home on Thursday morning! We are SO thankful & have been praising God to have the weight of two houses finally lifted! After just less than six months on the market our house sold! We (okay, mainly Jeff & his wonderful parents who helped us SO much) have been busy the last several weeks doing all of the repairs from the home inspection, cleaning any remaining stuff out of the house, and getting it spruced up for the new owners. Jeff & his parents worked SO hard, but it paid off because the new owner commented at the closing on how great the house looked & how they appreciated it very much--their movers were coming the next morning! I pray that they will have many wonderful years in that home! It is a little strange to think of someone else living there now in the house that we built 4 years ago...the house that saw us bring two babies home from the hospital, where we have a lot of wonderful memories, but already our new house feels like home! And each day we are making new memories here! I am thankful that we can finally focus 100% of our attention on this house now to finally get artwork & shelves hung and really pull it all together! Definitely it was a closing of one chapter, but the new chapter has already begun & I like where it is going!
On Friday we were able to have our dear friends, John & Cynthia, over for dinner to celebrate the arrival of their 3rd baby boy just a few weeks ago. I had been meaning to take them a meal, but then we decided to see if they might like to get out & come over for dinner...you know how good it feels when you have a newborn to just get out for a bit...the kids had SO much fun running around & playing together!
Sweet little Alex!
We have been friends with John & Cynthia since middle school (or before!), so it is a really special friendship that we are so thankful for!
Dinner madness! Seven kids, four adults...we were clearly outnumbered!
We grilled out steaks & had twice baked potatoes, green bean bundles, sweet corn, salad & bread. The kids ate a few bites, got up, walked around, we brought them back, they ate a few more bites, repeat...
until we finally let them all go play & the grown-ups had a few minutes to eat our (now cold) food in peace...this led Jeff to conclude that next time we will feed the kids pizza or PB&J & then let them play while the adults enjoy a nice meal & semi-uninterrupted conversation!
Saturday dawned sunny & beautiful, the perfect day for a very special birthday...my mom's!
To celebrate her birthday & to show her how much we love & appreciate her, I turned the tables on her...usually she takes me out to lunch & shopping, but on Saturday I wanted to do that for her! Jeff graciously stayed home with all the kids & I took my mom out to lunch & then we enjoyed a few hours of just girl time!
It was great fun & because that's just the way she is, my sweet mom still ended up buying me some new clothes! When mom & I got home we loaded everyone up to go get a cool & yummy treat, frozen yogurt!
Sophie has brain freeze!
Jack finished his huge bowl so fast & then ran & jumped all over the place...boys!
Happy Birthday Yaya!
When we got back home, Jeff sat Drew up on the roof of the car, just to be silly (he didn't let go!)...Drew just smiled SO big & of course I had to snap his picture...and then of course everyone else wanted to do the same!
I didn't get a picture of Jack because he was making mean faces the whole time...again, boys!
So that was our week, and it's Monday again! I hope it will not be another week before I can update the blog again! Hope that your week is blessed & beautiful, thanks for stopping by!

Ahhhhh....frozen yoghurt! We were gonna stop by TCBY on Saturday night to get some free yoghurt but we got there around 8ish and the line was sooooo long. I was craving it after that so we stopped and got a milkshake at ChickFilA...but now that you mentioned it...I'm craving it again! Mmmm yummy!
The pic of you and mom looks beautiful!

All of your children are so beautiful but I have to say that Darcy's pictures always make me smile. You can't look at her smile and not smile back.

I know that you have A LOT of extra time on your hands (wink, wink) but I'd love to see some pictures of your exciting life in Chicago. I'll call this a formal request for pictures of the early days.... ;-)
