FALL-ing

As the leaves have been changing colors & swiftly covering our lawn, I have found myself falling behind on my blogging, but we sure have been enjoying this beautiful, busy fall season. Over the last several weeks, I have enjoyed Fall-ing up the house a bit & the kids have really enjoyed the cooler weather to play outside. Here are some recent pics of our fall activities...
On a recent afternoon the girls spread the big quilt under the hickory tree & had fun make-believing...
It was all good except they left the castle & quilt outside & it rained that night...
...thankfully we remembered when we heard the rain start & Jeff was quick to bring them in before they got drenched!
 Halloween has come & gone...
...but these guys looked cheerful on our back steps for the week between the Pumpkin Carve & trick-or-treating.

Inside I enjoy using pumpkins, leaves, nuts & warm fall colors all through October & generally until right after Thanksgiving. I LOVE to get the house decorated for Christmas between Thanksgiving & Jack's birthday at the end of November. With all of the Christmas stuff in the stores already, I am getting SO excited about decorating this house for our first Christmas here! But I'm getting ahead of myself...this is about FALL!
I love pops of bright orange here & there!
 Bumpy gourds & squash.
 A little birdie & a pumpkin
It has been about 2 weeks since I took this photo & in that time the pumpkins multiplied. I think there are at least 5 more there now!
I love how God created SO many different colors & varieties of apples...they not only taste yummy, but the look so pretty, too!
Changed out the apothecary jars to add fall fruits & Indian corn.
Three little pumpkins all in a row! I purchased these at the dollar spot at Target a few years ago & love their simplicity on my table.
Another interesting gourd or squash (???) and a cone from the big cedar tree that the kids found in the yard.

And another bumpy gourd, I like that this one is white!
And even the kids' artwork is perfect for adding some seasonal spirit to the side of the fridge!

Back outside again, I will "leaf" you (whew, I crack myself up!) with some fun photos of the kids playing in a pile of leaves last weekend...

The girls making "leaf angels"
 Jack literally diving in!

 Darcy just having fun!

Sophie loved to grab huge arm-fulls & throw the leaves up in the air!

 Leaves for sale!!!

Daddy trying to find what is buried in the leaves...
 Do you spy anything???
It's Darcy & Sophie!
Drew giving the leaves a try...
...he's not quite as convinced as the girls that the leaves are actually fun!
Especially when big sisters throw leaves all over him...
...but they help clean him off, too!

Sophie practicing her best scarecrow impersonation!!
Drew found the blower & tried to pick it up to help Daddy!
 Rock-n-roll leaf sculpture

Jeff & I spent several hours working in the garage while the kids were playing in the leaves...we were cleaning, sorting, organizing, throwing-away...then Drew found the bucket of bubble toys...
He proceeded to fling out every single item...picking them up one at a time & then throwing each one with gusto...he emptied the bucket in about 13 seconds flat...
but OH, this must be the one he was looking for!

Ah, what a fun you all are having this fall! We went out and played in leaves too, though I have a feeling you have way more leaves then we do!

I really enjoyed looking at all of these pictures. Your children are so delightful to watch and your knack for decorating says so much about your talents. Fall is a great time of the year for colors.
