So, I've covered Valentine's Day & Grand Prix & that brings us to the events of last weekend! It started with a most wonderful Girls' Night Out on Friday evening! And it wasn't just any GNO, it was a very special evening out to celebrate three baby girls all due to arrive in the next couple of months! Unfortunately, I spent all of my time out talking and chowing down on some yummy Mexican food...SO, I did not take one single picture of our lovely group...total bummer! But I do want to thank Jenny & Jessica for organizing the evening & kindest thanks to all of the girls for treating us preggo moms to a dinner out! What a blessing, indeed!
On Saturday, the weather was nice, the doors & windows were open, and everyone in our house was healthy! Already, the weekend was a win! The girls' had spent the night with grandparents, so we just had the boys around for the morning while we worked on getting some house things in order...Jeff was working in Drew's new room getting it ready for paint & for the built-in shelving...
Thank goodness he had a little helper to get the job done...
Drew overseeing Daddy to make sure he's doing everything right!
On Saturday afternoon, I got to enjoy another girls-only event (two outings in one weekend for me, WOW!) A beautiful High Tea sponsored by the local Greek church chapter of the Daughters of Penelope to raise funds & awareness for breast cancer research. My mom & I have been attending this tea together for several years now & this year was bittersweet as my mom just lost her dear sister, Nellie, to breast cancer a few months ago.
Mom & I
We were also joined by several of my mom's friends. Here she is with her friends Rhonda & Mettie.
The tea offers fantastic door prizes & drawings each year...several years ago Mettie was the lucky winner of the grand prize fur coat!!
My mom's co-worker & dear friend, Aja, also joined us, along with her mom & two sisters. Aren't they a gorgeous family!! I just love being around them because they all truly shine, inside & out!
Me, Aja, Mom & Aja's mom, Kathy
Aja & I
Taylor got to take home the gorgeous potted begonia table centerpiece!
The afternoon included a fashion show, the door prizes, a guest speaker and of course, an amazing assortment of tea goodies to eat!
Notice the tables behind the speaker piled high with all of the door prizes...and the fur coat grand prize on the podium! We didn't win the fur coat, but I was excited to win a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure! Now, it would be perfect if I can just find the time to put that gift certificate to use before Lucy arrives!
The fashion show included some beautiful spring & summer looks for women of all ages
After the Tea, we rushed home so that Jeff & I could get to the awesome Next Generation dinner at our church. My parents were kind enough to babysit the kids, so Jeff & I could attend this important dinner to kick-off our church's new building campaign...a building addition that will serve the entire congregation, but especially the "next generation", the youth of the church, which are currently over capacity in many age groups. It has been so exciting to see God work in our church & grow it for His glory! God is definitely doing amazing things in the lives of people who love Him & we are excited to be a part of this wonderful time of expansion & growth. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, praise & worship, fellowship...and here again, I forgot to take a single picture!
On Sunday, we were thrilled after several weeks of sickness to be able to ALL go to church together again! After church, we invited some good friends over for a simple lunch. It seems with schedules being so busy, we don't have friends over nearly as often as we would like to, but it is so fun! The weather was gorgeous & the kids had so much fun playing outside. Even though it's only February, we were able to grill out hamburgers & hot dogs & eat outside like it was May!
All the kids enjoying lunch! It worked out great how everyone had a buddy to play with!
Jack & best bud Corban
(Apparently Jack has graduated from the hand in front of his face to making absurd faces for photos...hmmmm, we still have some work to do!)
Darcy & Riley
Big Sophie & Little Sophie!
Drew & Hudson talking politics over lunch
The two Sophies also had quite a sweet little tea party!
Corban spent the rest of the afternoon with us until we all went back to church...but shortly after the rest of his family left, this is how I found Jeff, Darcy & Sammy! It was a pretty perfect Sunday afternoon!
And now for the other randomness...on Sunday evening after church I decided I wanted to have Jeff take some photos of me with the kids...sure it would have been nicer had we taken them in the afternoon when it was light out & the kids were all still dressed in cute clothes...but knowing that baby Lucy could come any day, I decided to take what I could get...kids in mis-matched pajamas & all!
Drew loving on Zoe
Taking a little break, Zoe makes a good pillow!
Darcy practicing her smile for the camera!
(Don't you love her hot pink Hello Kitty pj top with the red Eskimo pants!)
As soon as we got the camera out, Drew sat down by the fire place & started saying "cheeeeesse!"
Too bad that I wanted to sit in a chair & have the kids all around me...Drew preferred the fire place & Darcy wanted to stay at the ottoman...
I think we are convincing Darcy, but Drew's outta there!
3 out of 4 isn't so bad!
Jack smiling, Sophie beckoning Drew & I honestly have no idea what Darcy is doing!
Hey, we got one with all 4!
(No, I'm definitely not holding onto Drew with a death grip.)
So we move to the fire place & that works a little better...
Here again, no idea what Jack is doing to Darcy!
Ah, such is life & gotta love these moments!
We are definitely well stocked on crazy here!
Mommy & my baby Drew!
See, I told you, plenty of crazy here...
Me at 37 weeks pregnant
Me & my girls!
And one more for the road...I wonder if we will ever figure out what Darcy is doing?!!
So that wraps up our wonderful weekend! Stay tuned, more to come...Drew's new room has really taken shape over the last 2 days, thanks largely to the hard work of my in-laws, and Jeff, too! The fabulous built-in is finished, the room is fully painted & we moved the bed into the room tonight...perhaps we will try moving Drew to his new big boy bed tomorrow!
