So this week, we just kept up with our normal busy schedule...school, church, Awana, etc...I was able to attend a wonderful Missions Conference Luncheon at church on Tuesday morning that I wasn't sure I would get to go if Lucy had other plans...And Drew, Darcy & I went to a fun play-group on Thursday morning, so that was nice, too. (But I didn't take a single picture!)
It seems like everything has been in a wait-and-see holding pattern this week. And everywhere I go, people greet me with "You're still here?!?!" So I've given up trying to predict when little Lucy will decide to grace us with her presence...and I'm just trusting the Lord that His timing is perfect!
Jack had Grandparents Day at school on Friday & had so much fun with both sets of grandparents attending the program. He loves showing them his school & classroom. It was an early dismissal day, so afterwards the grandparents took Jack out for lunch & then brought him home. My mom planned to stay here Friday afternoon to help out & she spent the night, just in case Lucy decided to make an appearance...no such luck, I guess that would have been too easy!
In the meantime while we patiently wait, I've been continuing to work on little projects around the house & Friday night I was able to make some T-shirts for the kids to wear when Lucy arrives. I generally buy "Big Brother/Big Sister" t-shirts for the kids to wear when a new sibling arrives...and I always find lots of cute ones to choose from on Etsy, but at around $20 a t-shirt...this time it was going to cost me $100! So, I decided to take matters into my own hand & try making them! To keep it very simple, I decided to just buy plain t-shirts & number them 1 through 4 for each child...and a 5 for the baby!
I found the t-shirts for $2 each a couple weeks ago at Hobby Lobby. And I also picked out a cute fabric for each child...the fabric was also on sale, so I got a yard of each...good thing I loved the fabrics, because I have tons left to do lots of other projects! Still, all in all, I made each shirt for well under $5!
Here are the results...and, if I do say so myself, for my first foray into clothing, I was very pleased with the results!
I was going to just put the numbers on the shirts, but then realized you would hardly see any fabric at all, so I decided to cut out an oval of each fabric & cut the number out of the oval. It was a little more labor intensive this way & drew/cut all of the numbers by hand, but I liked the results!
Drew's shirt on the ironing board...I thought this robot fabric was TOO cute!
1=Jack, 2=Sophie, 3=Darcy, 4=Drew
(I didn't have a plain pink onesie to make one for Lucy, so hers will have to come later!)
Since my mom was here today & we had free babysitting, Jeff & I headed up to the Southern Spring Show to walk around & look at all of the exhibits. Jeff's company has been busy working the last several weeks on a fantastic fireplace, patio & water feature for the Blue Max Materials booth. It turned out fabulous & I wanted to see it in person!
We spent about 3 hours walking around the whole show, touring the gardens & perusing all of the vendors (I'll do a separate post tomorrow with more photos of the gorgeous gardens!) After all that we were even able to squeeze in a trip to Costco to stock up & pick up a pizza for dinner!
Truthfully, I was hoping that all of the walking around today would help motivate Lucy to come out...but so far, she's still comfy-cozy, and all I have to show for it are some really swollen feet & ankles...and sitting in this chair at the computer isn't helping that any, so I should sign off now & get them elevated!
Maybe my next post will have some exciting news, but I'm starting to think that I may be sitting here the same time next week still waiting...but tomorrow is Jeff's birthday, so maybe Lucy wants to be a special birthday blessing for her Daddy...we will see! Goodnight everybody!
