I am SO enjoying Christmas break...no rushing out the door in the morning, no sitting in carpool lines :-) staying in our PJs all morning (or all DAY!) The kids are really enjoying the break, too! We have played more games & they have been busy with all kinds of little projects here & there...I love to see their creativity & am learning to deal with the mess that accompanies said creativity...you should see my desk (why always MY desk?!)...bits of paper, scissors, markers, more bits of paper...oh well, there are worse things!
Today Sophie busied herself in her room for quite a while this morning, coming out now & then asking me to tie a cape or could she use this basket...
So I am pausing a bit from updating my Christmas card address labels (they are waaaay late anyway!) so I can share with you what Sophie has been working on with so much care & diligence...she has been arranging her stuffed animals into a little Nativity scene. The cape I tied on the bunny was King Herod's cape (for which she used a baby bonnet because as she said, "I don't have any little capes.") She & Jack are upstairs now planning the party to accompany the Nativity Scene...they are busily working in the play kitchen arranging place settings & filling the plates with lots of party food. I think I also heard mention of party hats!
Joseph on the left, baby Jesus in the basket & Mary with the lovely pink crown!
The whole she-bang: Shepherds & Wise Men on the left (wearing little bowls for hats or crowns), King Herod on his bunny slipper throne, the red bear is the Angel and the flower beside him is the Star.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
Special decorations to make the room festive!
And here is what Jack was working on--and the reason for most of the paper & markers strewn about on my desk...a little pop-out Nativity. They are using it as a decoration for the party!
Update: Sophie just came in & she is dressed up in her very best dress-up ball gown for the party!
My heart soars when I see their imaginations at work and even more so when the fruit of their little minds is something so sweet...I think the King of Kings smiles to see their display of His amazing story.
All glory be to Him!
This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe...Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

LOVE the creativity of your precious kids! I look forward to my boys coming up with things like that someday!
Ahhh...this is so cute! Isn't it amazing when they want to center their play time around Jesus? Without even being told or encouraged to do so!!!??? To have faith like a child...to believe so willingly and love so freely! Your kids are so sweet! And they are blessed to have such amazing parents!
