Simple Woman's Daybook

For today, Monday, May 17th
Outside my window...Green, green and more verdant green with flits of blue, rust, red and brown. We have bluebirds, blue jays, cardinals and a host of other birds. I just watched a determined squirrel attempt his second try of the day at getting into our squirrel-proof bird feeder...thus far it is Bird feeder 2 Squirrel 0...I have a feeling that he will be back! And, yes, actually as I type this he just climbed down the chain & is perched atop the feeder...now hanging on to the cage-like sides for dear life, going round & round trying to find a way to get to the feed...but he can't get in! This is hysterical, now I believe he is trying to chew through the metal. Oh, now he is poised to jump back to the tree...no, clever bugger, now he is trying to lift the lid/roof off of the feeder to get at the seed that way! But the seed still eludes him...for now...

I am wondering...how long the present quiet will last in the house...Drew is napping, the girls are playing nicely in their room, Jack is working on homework...in the blink of an eye napping is quickly replaced by crying, playing is taken over by arguing/yelling, and...and seriously as I was typing that Darcy tried to climb into Drew's highchair, fell on the ground & started screaming...now Drew is calling "DaaDAAAA" from his crib, sigh!

I am thankful for...the sight of Jeff's truck turning into the driveway!

I am wearing...black t-shirt, olive green capris...today has been a catch-up day around here & I only ran out to take Sophie to & from school...I'm not even wearing earrings!

I am remembering...that I still need to find a summer camp for each of the girls. They are signed up for swim lessons & a football camp for Jack...but with summer break looming, (and in light of the current chaos in the house) I am beginning to second-guess my "low-key-no-obligations" summer!

I am going...to Sophie's class tomorrow for the Summer Birthdays celebration. We are having an ice cream party for all of the kids, like Sophie, whose birthdays fall over summer break. I'm bringing the sprinkles, chocolate sauce & whipped cream!

I am currently reading...Facebook. (Hey, don't judge!)

I am hoping...to become more creative in my blogging this summer...

On my mind...dinner, hmmmmm.....I guess it should have been on my mind sooner than now.

Noticing that...the bird feeder is still swinging, evidence that the squirrel was back for yet another unsuccessful try!
Pondering these words...

"Keep your eyes open for God, watch for His works; be alert for signs of His presence." Psalm 105:4 The Message

and the great article by my friend Lori that I read here...
and desiring to be a better student of my children, a greater observer of the world around me, a more devoted child of the King.

From the kitchen...just the lovely aroma of a beautiful, huge magnolia blossom that my Dad brought over yesterday. It has a heavenly, soft, sweet, almost citrus-y smell. As a matter of fact, last night when I was cleaning up the kitchen, I kept wondering why I smelled lemons!
Around the house...lots of screaming now, the quiet is gone...Darcy fell down & needs a band-aid, Sophie hurt her hand, Drew is just crawling around doing his best screech-owl impression...now Sophie is crawling into the office with padded potty training pants on her head causing Jack to start chanting, "Sophie wears diapers, Sophie wears diapers..."

One of my favorite things...baby toes, seriously, is there anything sweeter?
A few picture thoughts I am sharing...
I realized that I have not shared any Mother's Day photos yet...my blogging has been sparse the last 2 weeks, so here are some photos of what we've been up to.
Mommy & Darcy at her Muffins for Moms party
Darcy says, "Happy Mother's Day!"

Drew enjoyed the muffins, too!
Mommy & Sophie at her class party for Mother's Day
Sophie's class and the other TK classes did a cute program for all the Moms
Drew with a messy face
Doggie!
The doggie likes it when Drew is in the highchair!
Thanks for visiting!
