Oh Deer!

As I was typing up the next post in the summer pictures series, I went into the kitchen & look who I found checking out my garden...
We frequently see deer crossing through our yard & it is always a beautiful sight. When I wanted to plant a garden, Jeff told me that they would eat it up, but I said we should give it a try anyway. Well, all summer long we have enjoyed our garden & haven't noticed any signs of the deer (or other wildlife) bothering it...until today!
I have let a lot of our tomatoes go & the birds have been enjoying them, so perhaps the scent of tomatoes is what tickled this doe's nose...
She spotted me right away, but was very content to just watch & check me out...she did leave my tomatoes alone though! I actually would not have minded her eating some, as I had already picked the last good ones for a tomato sauce I made this morning.
I'm pretty sure this is the same doe that we have seen with two spotted fawns playing in the yard...I hope that the fawns are okay & perhaps they have already gone out on their own now?
(Above) Do you see her now, hiding behind the tree?
What a fun sight for a Wednesday morning!

Great pictures! Deer are such beautiful animals. I am always amazed at how well they can hear...they are always listening to every little noise. I know that the kids love seeing them.

Thanks so much for swinging by and leaving a sweet comment! I'm glad you did, it brought me here to visit your adorable family, and your deer! In the heart of the city suburbs, the only deer I get to see are at the Downtown Zoo! I got to escape for just a minute via your photos. :O)

What a lovely sight. The deer I would enjoy in the country. The snakes...not so much.
