I think probably no less than 432 times since the end of last summer one or more of our kids has asked, "Can we go to the pool?" Never mind if it is 50 degrees outside, or 30, or raining or just about anything else, somehow going to the pool always makes sense to our kids. Well, finally, this weekend we were able to go! Shhh, don't tell our kids, but most pools around here have been open for at least a month, but since moving we were not sure what we would do for a pool this summer. Our old neighborhood had a pool & the kids didn't really understand why we couldn't just keep going there...but we ended up joining a little pool closer to home for this summer.
Saturday dawned sunny, humid and HOT...the perfect day for a refreshing dip! We went to the pool mid-afternoon & packed an early dinner for the kids. It worked out great because they swam, ate, swam & played some more and topped it all off with popsicles! By the time we came home & had baths everyone was ready for bed & slept soundly! I love the way playing at the pool wears kids out. I remember that from my own childhood, the deep, restful sleep that comes after a day spent in the water. Ahhh.
Drew wasn't so sure about the water at first & didn't like being in the Baby Float, he preferred to be held. Darcy was also a bit hesitant at first in the big pool. She also wanted to be held closely or be in the float. Jack & Sophie had fun swimming around & playing with their noodles. After a while, I took Drew to the baby pool & Darcy soon followed. She gained great confidence in the baby pool & in no time was jumping in, splashing & having a great time. Drew also liked that he could walk around inside the baby pool holding onto the edge. He loved to play with all the little toys on the side of the pool. We did have to watch him carefully though because a couple of times he fell over & couldn't get up. It was easy to see how quickly a child can be under the water with hardly a sound; you really do have to watch them every second! We pray that our kids will love swimming, but more importantly that they will always respect the water & be very careful around it at all times.
Here are a few pics of the kids enjoying our inaugural pool visit!
Darcy is ready for fun and is quite coordinated with her purple flip-flops, purple noodle & purple sunglasses!

I told Darcy to say "cheese" and this is what she did. Not sure why!

Ahhhh, refreshing!
That's all folks...I know it is not as many photos as I normally take, but I was busy most of the time keeping up with a kid or two!

Family swim dates are so fun! We've yet to get Daddy to join us but have been a few times ourselves to the pool. There are so many great pools around here. I had done some research when we were looking to move last year.
Just look at all those huge smiles! They've brightened my day-
I'm so glad y'all had a good time and it looks like a great pool and pretty close by. Enjoy!
Looks like so....much fun! Summer and pool days.....nothing better!!!!!
