Half-way

Today marks the half way point of me blogging for an entire month & I am excited to say I have made it thi far without missing a day! I have already written more posts this month than any other single month I have blogged. Are you guys sick of me yet??? ;-) It has been easier than I anticipated in some ways, and more difficult in others. I'm not to the point yet where I would call daily blogging a habit, I have to work at it each day & have immense respect & admiration for the bloggers who churn out wonderful, creative, inspiring, relevant content day after day. I can see where having a plan (almost like a teacher's lesson plan) for your blog with goals, outlines, post ideas, etc. would be really useful...but I'm not there yet & perhaps never will be. I'm more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants blogger, seeing where each day takes me & blogging about that. I am a little surprised that I'm not more "caught up" on my summer blogging at this point. I guess I figured I would have lots of boring days & need more "filler" posts. Apparently, I'm going to have to make a point (plan!?) to get those blogs written & included in this month of blogging.

I still have 2 weeks to go, and the jury is still out on daily blogging for me. I don't know that I will continue a post a day after October 31st, but I do like the fact that I don't feel behind. Many nights it is all too easy to say, "I'm tired, I'll blog tomorrow..." and then it is two weeks gone with nary a post in sight. The challenge of posting every day has definitely helped me stay consistent...the question is what will I do when he 31 days is over & the pressure is gone. Oh well, I guess I better not get ahead of myself...I still have 16 days of October blogging to finish before I can start patting myself on the back!

And now for just a quick recap of today...

Imagine autumn perfection...perfect temperatures & a gentle breeze, check. Perfect blue sky, check. Ample sunshine, check. A few puffy white clouds to look pretty, check. Not having a day jam packed with activities, check! Today was a nice balance between activity & relaxation. I won't say that I went so far as to kick back, put my feet up & read a book, but I did have a chance to flip through a magazine! We enjoyed the beautiful weather at the fields this morning for Jack's flag football game. Then, we came home & enjoyed a low-key afternoon of playing, trampoline jumping, some cleaning out & sweeping of the garage (I know I'm strange, but it makes me so happy to clean out the garage!) Jeff needed to meet with a customer & Sophie had a birthday party to attend, but other than that we just stayed home & I kept the doors open all afternoon. After the kids were all freshly bathed from a day at play, we ate eggs, bacon (cooked in the oven on my new Pampered Chef stoneware bar pan, LOVE!), toast & apples for supper. Everyone asked for seconds & thirds. Drew snuck an apple right before we sat down to eat & I thought for sure he would take a few bites (enough to ruin his appetite) and throw it down. Much to my surprise, he ate the apple throughout dinner (and when he finished I could only find a couple of the seeds!) and in addition ate 2 helpings each of eggs, bacon (he would have had 22 helpings if we would have let him!), and toast with jelly. Fresh air & play time make for a good appetite!
 Jack's No. 1 fan & biggest cheerleader!
Sophie reading a book to her little friend
 Darcy relaxin' in the stroller
Lucy has the best seat in the house!

Drew decided this flag football game needed a bit of tackling...

Oh, what am I going to do with this cute, busy boy?!!!

The only pics I took all day were these few of the kids playing on the sidelines at football. (And I didn't even get one of Jack, but his team played really well today. They lost by one touchdown, but played a team that beat them badly a few weeks ago. It was awesome to see the boys work together, listen to the coaches, make some great plays & feel good about their game today! Oh, and Jack scored a great touchdown!) I know I will not be able to record every special moment or day on film & sometimes a camera can't even capture the feeling or essence of a day. Today was one of those days & I am thankful to have captured it in my heart!
