“…Tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord,
and his might, and the wonders that he has done.
…That the next generation might know them,
the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments”
Psalm 78:4, 6-7
We are so blessed and thankful to be a part of a growing, thriving, active church body that is unswerving in faith in Jesus Christ. It has been our joy to worship here for the past six years, and to grow under the sound Biblical teaching. How grateful we are to be able to raise our children in a church so full of love, grace and Truth, where children of all ages are taught the Word of God & the importance of hiding Scripture in their hearts.
In a special ceremony today, we broke ground on a new building that will increase our capacity to minister to youth and children for many more generations to come. How awesome to be here to witness such an exciting milestone in the history of our congregation. And our family was very humbly honored to have a small part in such special day--Jack was selected to be the Children's Ministry representative during the ceremonial turning of the dirt. He stood alongside several pastors, church leaders, a high school representative, a middle school representative, a founding member of our church and several construction officials.
I have to say, this mama was quite proud of her boy! Jack looked so handsome in his cute tie & official hard hat.
Waiting patiently...
Getting ready for show-time!
Just part of the crowd in attendance
Of course, Drew found some dirt of his own...
...he wasn't going to let Jack be the only ground-breaker in the family!
Jack being introduced & the pastor asked him to take good care of the new building!
A few remarks from our senior pastor
Getting ready to turn some dirt!
Dig in!
Jack took his job very seriously!
We did have a little talk beforehand about not throwing he dirt & he did a perfect job!
What an honor, I was so proud of my big guy!
Praying for God's blessing over the site & new building.
Posing with Mrs. Su the wonderful & fun Student Ministries Director!
My handsome boys!
Lucy found the whole ground breaking ceremony riveting
And Drew is still digging in the dirt...
I'm thinking of inquiring to see if they have any job openings for dirt movers...
The only way to get Drew out of there...
Distraction & swinging your child upside down...
Works every time!
After heading home for a quick lunch & change of clothes, we headed back to church to continue the celebration of generations with a wonderful Family Fun Day! Our church hosts this event every fall & it is always a winner...bouncy houses, the climbing wall, relay races, a cake walk, pick-up games of football, soccer, Frisbee, face-painting, spin-art, balloon animals, & whew, I'm out of breath from just typing all that! Needless to say it is FUN...not to mention the fact that there are SO many friends to play with! So between chasing Drew all over the place & going here & there with the girls...we managed to snap a few photos.
Sophie & Darcy getting ready for face painting, our first stop every year at family day!
Sophie's cute flower & heart border
Darcy chose a pretty pink & purple butterfly
Next was spin-art, here the girls are hanging their masterpieces up to dry!
Drew was happy to get a snow cone
A football & a snow cone...pretty close to heaven!
Sack races
Lucy was sweet as usual
Sweetness overload!
Drew had gotten stuck inside one of the inflatables & Jeff had to go inside to help him out!
Finally made it!
Next Darcy
And then Sophie...each one racing to the next thing!
Pausing to decide what to do next!
The girls seriously were just running around & diving onto the ground.
Jack spent most of his time playing football or soccer
Drew spent most of his time running the opposite direction from where we were going
Going to the tents to get some dinner
Drew playing football with sweet Leah
And getting a good tickle!
Whew, tired out!
Everyone was in bed snoring by shortly after 7:00 pm tonight. It was a full, fun, fantastic fall day! (And, hey, I even survived to blog about it & keep up with day 2 of my 31 days of blogging!)
