Under the Wire

So it is 11:00 pm on October first, and I have almost let the day fly by in a flurry of sports & parties & cleaning out the garage. The easiest way would be not to start (and I'm not talking about the garage anymore) & then I wouldn't have to worry if I failed, but I have had this idea rumbling around in the back of my mind for a few weeks, so I am going to try. I even mentioned it to Jeff & to my mom. I am sure you are thinking I'm crazy & most likely wondering what in the world I'm talking about. Well, here's the dealio...I am going to try--try--participating in the 31 Days thingy that lots of the big bloggers are doing, and I am going to simply try blogging, every day, for 31 days. I know for most bloggers that is a no-brainer, but I know for me it would be a huge deal & a personal accomplishment. And if I don't make it, well that's fine, too, but I will be glad I tried! I am not going so far as to link up with the official 31 days blogs because I really don't have a topic, and I'm sure I will not be the most interesting blog to read from all of the great choices, but I am really doing this more for me. It is something that I need to do. Oh.my.goodness I just clicked over & see that there are already 562 bloggers linked up for the 31 Days, wow!! Most look all official with cute buttons & everything! SO many neat topics, I think I could do a 31 Days on just what I read on all the new blogs. Maybe one day that will be me, but for now I'm just going to give it a go...I'm going to try to catch up from our busy summer & keep up with this hectic fall & I will see where that gets us. So here goes!!!
I'll end this post with quick little recap of our weekend thus far...it has been a good one with several birthday parties, football & just fun times!
This week Jack was one of a number of kids honored at school for showing good character.
He received a character trait award for Respect. His teacher wrote that he always takes care to show respect to his teachers & classmates alike.
We are very proud of Jack & he sure is a great big brother, too!
I sure love this picture of Lucy being supported by Pop's strong hands!
Lucy, Drew & Darcy had some fun with Pop & Nana on Friday when I was helping in Sophie's class for a few hours.
Look Ma, no hands!
Sophie packed a lovely picnic snack for her & Darcy to share after school on Friday.
She spread out a blanket (even decorated the tree with a wreath!), filled a basket with apples, oranges, cookies & their water bottles...they were all set!
But Drew sure didn't want to miss out on any fun!
After deciding their picnic would be much improved in princess attire!

 Snack-time at last!
The fun continued into Friday evening when we celebrated our niece's 17th birthday!
Mallory is a wonderful & beautiful young lady! Our girls sure look up to her!
Sophie was at another birthday party for a little while, so Darcy enjoyed helping Mallory open her presents!
Happy 17th Mallory, we wish you all the best!
Saturday morning sunshine meant Flag Football! After getting rained out last weekend & also this week for practice, the boys were ready to get out & play! Jack is one awesome defender & flag-puller!!
Drew was busy on the sidelines
Mom, I need to get back to work!
From a 17th birthday party to a 1st birthday party...This afternoon with big puffy clouds in a clear blue sky, we had fun celebrating sweet baby Blythe's first birthday! My good friend Jessica is the ultimate party planner...NO detail is left unattended. This was a perfect & beautiful ice cream social party for the for Blythe!
The beautiful dessert table! I only snapped a couple of pictures, but it was magical! Gorgeous fabrics, decadent cakes, lanterns, white table cloths blowing in the breeze.
Everything was perfect from the vintage suitcases to the mason jar glasses & candy stripe straws labeled with each guest's name on a little flag!
Of course, the awesome sundae bar!
It didn't stay empty for long! What a sweet way to celebrate a sweet and precious blessing! We were so glad to be a part of the special day!
