Losing It

No question about it, I'm definitely losing it. Started rather slowly, but never the less surely. I don't know if it has something to do with my recent birthday, that number ticking higher. Or perhaps having another baby is the cause? I guess it could be all the hours spent dropping-off, picking-up, supervising homework, mediating squabbles, responding to screaming when there is a tumble, fall, boo-boo. Cooking, cleaning, laundry. Or it might be related to the newspaper stories that get more depressing by the day & the thought of my kids growing up in a world, in a nation, that is rapidly drifting further from Truth.
Whatever the cause, what ever the reason, it is happening.
Truthfully, I always thought it would happen much sooner than this.  So, I am thankful for all the time I have had, but I do wonder if it will begin to accelerate now. The one, two & three now have friends...I noticed three more just this week. Probably my crazy postpartum hair shedding has made it more noticeable.
Since there is no longer any denying that it is happening, I suppose the question becomes, what to do about it???

Do I dye my hair or go gray gracefully?

Yes, I have gray hairs, and they are rapidly inviting buddies to the party!

And, no, I am not losing my mind...merely my hair pigmentation! ;-)

Melanie, I agree wholeheartly with your post as I too have started to find those filthy grays:) You are such a natural beauty as it is, your hair could all turn white tomorrow and people would still stop to comment on what a beautiful person you are, inside and out!

Melanie - welcome to the club my dear - and unfortunately the darkness of our hair color leaves a nice backdrop for the grey - I tried letting it go, but it's the patches that will get you. $5 box of hair color changes my mood once a month :) although I have paid the obnoxious professional fees a few times - let me know - I'm sure we could find a few friends that want to join in and have a "coloring party" :) - either way you'll still be BEAUTIFUL my friend!

I've had it since i was around 15 and it has just come in more and more over the years. I am just going with it because I saw what my mom went through when she decided to let her brown dye grow off. I am just hoping I get one nice white streak to make it look cool.

Funny post! I have been coloring my hair forever. Good job keeping up with your posting. I have to admit, your blog is the only one I am keeping up with reading. And I am staying up way too late trying to keep mine updated. But this is fun! Love what Rebecca and Stephanie said. You are beautiful inside and out!!! Blessings!

Unfortunately, I think it's part of motherhood - maybe even a battle scar! I got my grays after my twins were born (at 30) and have been battling them ever since. My grandmother was completely gray by 40! Oh - I'm really enjoying reading your daily posts!

I had never noticed your TWO :) gray hairs until dropping by after Lucy arrived. I too, have a small colony. YOU inspired me to stop plucking mine! I thought they were beautiful and they seem to testify to your wisdom.
Either gray, white or out of the box, your hair cannot take away from your sweet countenance & natural beauty!
